“You cannot be a half saint; you must be a whole saint or no saint at all.”
St. Theresa of Lisieux
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Thank you for all your prayers last week! It was an unsettled week for me and
the staff. But also, some parishioners too experienced unusual division and
confusion. Full Moon??? Thank God, St. Michael came to the rescue! That pesky
Devil never gives up. We must be doing something right!
The season of Lent is quickly approaching please consult the bulletin, webpage
and Flocknote for times to special services, Ash Wednesday, Friday Stations of
the Cross, a 7 week Bible series, also a parish Mission March 18-22nd and Holy
Week. We hope to add an evening Lenten Mass for those unable to attend in the
mornings.
We are moving forward and looking at future events so our parish can continue to
grow. As always, changes may come with new talented people on committees
and former ones moving on due to health reasons, age, or years of service to quieter
pastures. A new generation of leaders is needed to maintain the traditions we have
built upon and the legacy we leave for the next generation. Pray for those who are leading and those who God is calling to lead!
Our parish is going to have a Diocesan audit mid-February. This is to ensure that
financial and pastoral procedures are being followed and amended as needed.
We have done a lot this first year together to correct losses experienced during
Covid. With increasing shortages of clergy and church attendance, good churches
and good priests will be more difficult to find. Let’s pray for strength to carry on the
challenges in Church and society. Pray, pray, pray.
In Christ's Peace,
Father Don
