This weekend we celebrate the 3nd Sunday in Ordinary Time.
Today we begin a continuous reading of Mark's Gospel that will carry us through this segment of the liturgical season of Ordinary Time. Remember that in Cycle B of the Lectionary, most of the Gospel readings are taken from the Gospel according to Mark.
Mark’s Gospel is told with a great sense of urgency and immediacy. Jesus is a person of action, and events occur in rapid succession. We see this in today’s Gospel. Time is of the essence; the fishermen immediately put aside their livelihood to become Jesus’ disciples. The Kingdom of God is here and now. The time of fulfillment is at hand. How might our lives be different if we more fully shared this sense of the immediacy
of God’s kingdom?

RESPECT LIFE ACTIVITIES
Afternoon of Prayer for Respect for Life this Sunday
There will be an Afternoon of Prayer for Respect for Life this Sunday, January 24 at Our Lady of LaSalette Shrine in Enfield. Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 pm followed by a Holy Hour with the Rosary.
Pilgrims for Life Prayer Opportunities
While there will be no diocesan pilgrimage to the national March for Life this year, our prayer and advocacy must continue. The Diocese of Manchester has created a document, “Pilgrims for Life,” to help the faithful of New Hampshire build up the culture of life in the Diocese of Manchester and beyond. Various related online offerings will also be available nationally. Locally, prayer opportunities related to the March for Life will be held in multiple deaneries of the Diocese of Manchester.
2021 National Prayer Vigil for Life
The 2021 National Prayer Vigil for Life will take place Thursday, January 28, through Friday, January 29. Please note that, due to COVID-19 restrictions, there are significant changes to the schedule and limitations for in-person participation. If you are struggling with grief and loss, Catholic Charities NH will be hosting a six series program helping participants learn about the dynamics of grief, discover new ways to cope while healing and gain the opportunity to be supported and support others also sharing a painful journey.
